About Alox-Lyte™ Films
Alox-lyte™ films offer a transparent, high barrier solution for a range of flexible packaging applications.
Today, consumers increasingly want to see the products through the packaging, which requires a clear packaging window, while contents are still being protected.
Alox-Lyte™ provides a combination of water vapor and oxygen barriers for a transparent film solution and additionally offers a transparent replacement for metallized and foil films. This high barrier allows brand owners to extend shelf-life, helping to keep food fresh longer before consumption.
Compared to metallized films, Alox-Lyte™ allows metal detection at the end-of-filling operations helping to ensure that no metallic particles (e.g. from conveyor belt systems or filling systems) remain in the packaging. This provides cost and safety advantages versus x-ray detection systems. Additionally, Alox-Lyte™ films are microwaveable, whereas metallized and foil films are not.
Alox-Lyte films are robust, being able to withstand the stresses of the converting process, packaging, distribution and handling operations until the final products are consumed by the end user (simulated through elongation and Gelbo Flex Testing).
Alox-Lyte™ 16AO893, 16AO894 and 18XB803 are OPP-based barrier solutions which enable the creation of mono-material or polyolefin-based laminates by eliminating PET, a primary material used as a transparent barrier today. Additionally, the amount of aluminum used to create a typical Alox-Lyte™ barrier is about 50% less than that required for standard metallized OPP film (with similar barrier performance).
