JINDAL FILMS DISPLAYS RECYCLABLE PP MONO-MATERIAL SOLUTIONS AT DRUPA 2024 WITH MACHINERY PARTNERSLuxembourg, LU (May 28th 2024) – Jindal Films, a global leader in the development and manufacture of specialty films for the flexible packaging and labeling markets, will showcase during Drupa 2024 various printed BOPP & BOPE technologies designed to facilitate the switch from non-recyclable PET based laminates towards mono-material mechanically recyclable PP or PE based laminates for flexible packaging markets.

RECYLABLE THIN MONO-MATERIAL FILMS – LIVE PRINTING DEMOS DURING DRUPA
Jindal Films is cooperating with key partners in their live demonstrations during or around DRUPA 2024. Three key global printing press machinery producers are using thin PP or PE mono-material film solutions for rotogravure, flexography and offset printing processes. These demonstrations reflect the good conversion performances of oriented polypropylene and high density polyethylene films, with a great balance of mechanical and optical properties to replace PET films and help the industry shift to recyclable mono-material laminates

SOMA (Hall 15 Stand A01) will be printing BICOR™ 12MB100 – the thinnest BOPP film available on the market for PET film replacement – on their high speed Flexographic OPTIMA² press in 1,320mm. SOMA’s press features Intelligent Automation and “Advanced Bounce Control” system to address short-run efficiency and impression & registration accuracy issues. MB100 is a very thin improved heat resistant BOPP film featuring very high Modulus and low shrinkage for use in demanding flexible packaging laminates that traditionally resort to PET films as reverse print webs. MB100 enables printers and brand-owners to redesign their packaging to create PP mono-material solutions and reduce their virgin plastic usage. SOMA will be holding live demos at their stand twice a day over the duration of the fair. Two colorful designs in 10 colors running at 600m/min will be on display.

BOBST (Hall 10, Stand B30) is holding several demonstrations in their Competence Center in Italy on the weeks before, during and after DRUPA (weeks 21-24) in San Giorgio Monferrato. BOBST is using BICOR™ 12MB100 to print on a MASTER RS6003 rotogravure press. This rotogravure printing assessment is using 6 colors + white on a baby food design in width 1,000mm at 300m/min. These demonstrations demonstrate excellent print register with 12MB100 in comparison to PET films and ensure customers have a robust print performance using a very thin OPP film for PP mono-material applications in rotogravure. 12MB100 is now one of the key reference BOPP film used by BOBST during their open houses in Italy alongside 20MB400.

COMEXI (HALL 10 Stand C19) will be showing samples of BICOR™ 12MB100 printed on their Offset CI Evolution press using a fine coffee print design to demonstrate the high quality of printing on a very thin BOPP film to replace PET films. The 12MB100 was printed at 300m/min in 1,100mm with 4-color offset EB using a Flexo EB white.
During the tradeshow COMEXI will also be printing both ETHY-LYTE™ 20HD200 on their wide web Flexographic F1 Evolution press. HD200 is a thin oriented HDPE film that is used as the outer web of PE-based laminates to replace PET film and created PE mono-material solutions. COMEXI’s flexo press is operating at 600m/min in widths up to 1,720mm. PP and PE mono-material samples using a stunning dry pet food design in 6-colors, as well as a high quality bread bag design in 3-colors will be available.

Jindal Films is working on broadly implementing PP & PE mono-material recyclable solutions across all printing processes and packaging formats. Better Packaging for our Planet!
